Random Ramblings....12/30/2012

Went to Sai Temple for Kakad Aarti at 6 am - came back and slept for an hour before going to Rahul's place for SatyaNarayan Pooja and then came back and had afternoon siesta.  Saw the flick"The Magic of Belle Isle" - one heck of a beautiful movie! Morgan is at his best and so is Virginia Madsen!
In my perspective, the whole movie revolves around definition of "imagination" - taught to a 9 year old by Morgan for a paltry sum of $34.18.
Woke up late and had another somewhat truncated viewing of the same movie (Vijaya hates this habit of mine - I tend to read the same novels and watch the same movies and listen to the same music again and again... - if I like them) - lots of fast-forwarding....

Morgan must be gifted....and Virginia is as beautiful as she was in "The Astronaut Farmer".

Determined to complete first chapter of the book - may end up doing an all-nighter to get that out of the door. Good luck to me.

Oh, btw, Chardonnay made the second watching of "Magic of..." so totally worth it.....

Chalo Ek Baar Phir Se Ajnabi.....

...and last one before I pen off for the night - another Sahir Ludhianvi song made immortal by Mahender Kapoor (Chalo ek baar phir se, ajnabi ban....)

Come, let us be strangers once again
I, bereft of expectations of any solace for my poor heart
And, you keep away those looks, disguised yet mischievously entrapping
Here's hoping, my stammering words won't betray the trembling heartbeats
nor shall you reveal your tormented inner self
Come, let us be strangers once again....

Seems something stops you from the much desired advances
And, here people prevent me, saying you were never mine
My love, while my past has habit of following and haunting me,
so are you shackled by hangovers of nights bygone
Come, let us be strangers once again....

Better off forgetting the intimacy that borders addiction
Relationship that turns into burden is best left broken
That story without hope, inconclusive ending,
perhaps be left alone after giving a beautiful twist
Come, let us be strangers once again....

Yeh Raat Yeh Chandini Phir Kahan......

I can never have audacity to match Sahir Ludhianvi's magical words, but here is an attempt to translate "Yeh Raat Yeh Chandini phir Kahan..."

Never will this night, this moonlight shine again?
Listen to the poems escaping the heart

Dreamy moonshine splurging over branches of trees
can't be blamed, of being in your trance
In few moments, the tired, dejected night will give up your wait
Never ever to return
Magical era will perhaps last a moment or two
Listen to the poems escaping the heart

Lips of Waves have caught this enigmatic melody
Moist winds have engulfed freezing fires
Wish you could feel the burn
If only you could change life's song
..and give us glimpse of notes coming off your heartbeat
Listen to the poems escaping the heart

Departing springs beckon youth
Desperate for your story, in the shadows of dreamy stars
Caravans of love will call only once,
Departed, unlikely to ever return
There is still time, life is young
Listen to the poems escaping the heart

Dil Ki Girah Khol Do......

...and here's translation of my sister's favorite song (dil ki girah khol do...) ....again at best, mine is a poor attempt to capture magic of urdu lyrics from Shailender....

Untie knotted hearts, shackles of silence, so melody flows
No one is stranger here any more, reach out to me…

Let the hearts unite, without compulsions
Wash away all distances, separations, in the mirror of love
Love to shine in your eyes if only I could make you smile
No one is stranger here any more, reach out to me…

We both can't stay the same anymore
Something magical changed us
In this shining world of dreams, we are lost to ourselves
I would not ask directions from anyone,
Nor shall you disclose our destination
No one is stranger here any more, reach out to me…

What if anyone asks us tomorrow… -
What came over you yesterday
Oh, don't fret, don't care cuz we follow the hearts
Those left far far behind, don't look for them…
Untie knotted hearts, shackles of silence, so melody flows
No one is stranger here any more, reach out to me…
